On site
My techs won't want to talk to a camera. Will this work?
Most find it easier than filling in forms, although the first walk or two can feel awkward. The recording guide helps, and the pilot shows you how your own team takes to it.
Will it understand South African accents and trade terms?
Yes. The speech model is tuned for South African English and listens for your trade's vocabulary. The pilot measures it on your own team's voices.
What about noisy plant rooms?
Keep the phone close when you talk, or step outside and describe what you saw. The reviewer always has the video to check against.
Do we need signal on site?
No. Film the walk and upload later. If the upload drops, it carries on where it stopped.
Is there an app?
Yes. The SightWalk Android app films offline and has a photo button and an area checklist. You can also use your phone's normal camera app and upload in your browser.
Does it work with smart glasses?
Yes. Film the walk on smart glasses such as Ray-Ban Meta, move the clips to your phone with the glasses' own app, and upload them together. SightWalk puts the clips back in order as one walk. Your hands stay free and the video shows exactly what you saw. The glasses' own app handles the footage, under its maker's terms, until you upload it.
Does it work on iPhone?
Yes. Film with the camera and upload in your browser, or record straight in the browser.
Can we narrate in Afrikaans or mix languages?
Narration is in English for now. Tell us if your team needs another language.
What about talking in front of the client?
Plenty of techs explain what they're doing as they go anyway. If it feels awkward, step aside, or describe the finding once you've moved on.
Accuracy and responsibility
What if the draft is wrong?
Your reviewer fixes it. Every line links to its moment in the video, and nothing is final until a person signs the report off.
Can the AI make up a standard?
No. Recommendations can only cite entries from your own reference list. Entries stay flagged until your qualified person checks them, and the report lists any that are still unchecked.
Does SightWalk certify compliance?
No. It doesn't inspect, certify or issue certificates. Your qualified person checks and signs off the report.
Who is responsible for the report?
Your company and the person who signs it, exactly as with a report written by hand.
How much time will it save?
That depends on your walks and your reports. The pilot measures it on your own jobs, so you'll know before you sign up.
Data and POPIA
Where is our video processed?
On our own servers in South Africa. Speech recognition runs on a model we host. Your video and audio never go to an AI company.
Does anything leave South Africa?
Yes: the transcript text. It goes to our AI provider overseas, under contract, to be sorted into report lines.
How long do you keep the video?
Raw video and audio are deleted 30 days after the report is issued, unless you set another period. You can delete a recording, and everything made from it, at any time.
Is SightWalk POPIA compliant?
No product is POPIA compliant on its own; it depends on how it's used. You're the responsible party for your recordings and we process them for you under a written agreement. See Security.
Can I send videos on WhatsApp?
Please don't. Upload them in your account. WhatsApp is for questions only.
Systems and pricing
Which ERPs does it work with?
SightWalk creates quotations in Odoo directly. Other systems connect through our API, or we build the connector as a quoted project. If you don't have an ERP, you can work from the PDF report, or we can implement a complete Odoo system for you with SightWalk built in.
We don't quote. Our own maintenance team fixes what we find. Is it still for us?
Yes. Instead of quote lines, each checked finding becomes a ticket or work order for the right team, in Odoo or your own helpdesk. The technician gets the finding, the photo and the moment in the video, and the assessment shows which findings have been closed.
Does it replace our job-card system?
No. SightWalk covers the step from the site walk to the report and quote, and feeds your existing systems. If you're looking to replace your job-card system, we also implement Odoo field service, sales and accounting.
What does it cost?
You pay by the number of assessments a month, in rand. See Pricing.
